Following a rise from 41st to 35th in the on Saturday (13 September), the University has risen from 55th to 52nd in the UK in (19 September).  

In the South East, ������� is ranked 5th in the Guardian. 

These two league tables are among the most significant national guides for students and their parents, using similar but different measures based on a range of criteria including teaching quality, student experience and graduate prospects.  

The rise in the Guardian and The Times also follows a similar rise in the UK ranking of the ������� in the Complete University Guide in June from 49th to 42nd.   

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Galbraith, said: ‘I’m proud that these important national guides reflect the impact we know we are having on the lives of our students and their futures through quality teaching and an enriched student experience.  

“While these league tables use different methods and criteria, they all paint a consistent picture – we are moving up and heading towards our ambitious vision to be a Top 25 UK university by 2035. 

“Together with Gold-ranked teaching (Teaching Excellence Framework) and our ranking as the third best modern UK university for research power (Research Excellence Framework), these results support future students to choose the best university for them.  

“I’d like to thank colleagues and our supporting community for their tireless work and commitment in delivering the very best for our students.” 

In the Guardian, ������� has 6 subjects ranked in the top 10 across the country, including: 

• Animation and Game Design  

• Biomedical Science  

• Film Production and Photography  

• Health Professions 

• Media and Film Studies 

• Nursing 

There are also 9 subjects ranked in the top 20 in the Guardian including:  

• Accounting and Finance  

• Biology 

• Creative Writing  

• Criminology  

• Journalism 

• Mental Health Nursing 

• Pharmacy and Pharmacology 

• Physics 

• Sports Science
