Gosport World Space Week Trail Launch
Come and take part in hands-on Space activities at Gosport Discovery Centre and find your first rocket on the digital space trail around Gosport.

Family Saturday's
This World Space Week, join local artist duo the Cut-up Club for a special Family Saturdays session exploring collage making and techniques. Using repurposed vintage materials, families will work together to craft out-of-this-world cosmic collages inspired by swirling galaxies, shimmering stars, and distant planets. At the end of the session, participants will have their very own unique space collage to take home. Family Saturdays are free to attend with a suggested donation of 拢3. No booking is required, and you can drop in and out of the session. All materials will be provided, suitable for families with children aged 3 - 12 years old.

Southsea Library - Fun and Crafts
Each year, World Space Week highlights a unique theme that reflects the evolving role of space in our lives. This year, World Space Week is on 4-10 October.
This year's theme, 鈥淟iving in Space,鈥 explores the technologies, challenges and innovations that will enable humans to thrive beyond Earth. From spacecraft going to the Moon to the future Space Station Starlab, the themes spark global conversation about how we can sustain life in space and shape the next era of human exploration.
Come to Southsea Library on 4 October at 2 pm for an afternoon of fun and crafts and to discover more about space!

Gravitational Waves - The First Ten Years of a New Astronomy
Spend an evening with experts from UoP's ICG celebrating new discoveries from the first ten years of gravitational wave astronomy and plans for the future of this exciting new field of research.

Space and Creativity
Can Art and Science boost each other? Absolutely - and a good example is the exploration of the topic of Space. David Bacon, Director of the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, will lead a presentation and discussion about how we can generate beautiful new work as creatives and science fans, inspired by our home: the Universe.

Heavens Above: Explore the Night Sky
To celebrate World Space Week, 黑料入口 Libraries and Hampshire Astronomical Group are partnering up to present a special evening event, Heaven鈥檚 Above: Explore the Night Sky. This free, family-friendly experience offers two entry times鈥6:30pm and 7:00pm鈥攕o please let us know your preference when booking. During the evening, you鈥檒l have the chance to learn how to use a telescope, observe the night sky, handle real meteorites, and enjoy engaging talks and short films about astronomy. An invitation-only event at 黑料入口 Guildhall for schools featuring workshops and activities run by local space scientists at the 黑料入口, space companies and STEM outreach organisations. FULLY BOOKED.

Space - Exploration vs Exploitation
An expert panel discussion on the current and future opportunities made possible through exploring space and space technology.
- Sam Doody, Airbus 黑料入口 Site Director and Head of Microwave Instruments Mission Customisation, will share Airbus鈥檚 future plans for remote sensing and upcoming rover missions to the Moon and Mars.
- Louise Butt, Director of Space South Central, will explore the emergence of space as a warfighting domain and its wider implications.
- Alan Cross, STFC NW Space Cluster Development Manager, will deliver a forward-looking presentation on how, in the longer term, expanding into space could help address major global challenges here on Earth.
- The discussion will be hosted by Dr Jen Gupta from the 黑料入口 鈥 known for her appearances on The Sky at Night and Secrets of Our Universe with Tim Peake.

2009: Moon - A No. 6 Cinema Screening
No. 6 Cinema is proud to support the 黑料入口鈥檚 World Space Week celebrations with a special screening of Moon (Certificate 15). Before the film begins, there will be a panel discussion exploring the themes and ideas raised by the movie with leading experts from the 黑料入口. Directed by Duncan Jones, this acclaimed 2009 science fiction film follows an astronaut nearing the end of his three-year mission at a lunar mining base, confronting the challenges of life beyond Earth.

Gosport Digital Rocket Trail
Come and find our rockets in Gosport to unlock Space activities for all the family. Our rockets have been designed and decorated by schools in Gosport. Each one has a QR code for you to access Space activities. The trail will run from World Space Week to half-term. If you miss the rockets at their locations, come and see them all on Thursday, 30th October, at the Gosport Discovery Centre.
